Making Sense of the Universe
In this part of our study, we’ll see how Newton’s ideas expand into powerful principles that shape the entire universe. From the way a skater spins faster when pulling in their arms, to how tides rise and fall, to why satellites stay in orbit, conservation laws and gravity explain it all. We’ll learn how the same rules that govern a tossed baseball also govern planets, stars, and galaxies.

Your second poster and talk is due! This project includes both a visual component (printed or hand-written poster) and a brief presentation.
Lab Project Activity
Did you know you can measure the mass of the Earth using your eyes, a notebook, and some simple math? Follow along with step-by-step videos below and you’ll pull off an experiment that sounds impossible but actually works!
Supplemental Videos
The videos below are short explanations of topics discussed in class. These videos explore mechanics of motion in detail, including Newton's and Kepler's Laws, circular motion, energy and more. Take notes as you watch these mini-lessons with the teacher!
