This week we will take a look at the fundamental concepts in physics: forces! Investigate bridges, structures, learn about tension and compression, and build your own cable bridge and levitating, floating hovering table!
Week 19: Civil Engineering: Forces, Structures, Tension, Compression

Week 21: Special Class! National Engineering Week
Once a year, engineers and scientists all over the world go out into the community to inspire and educate the public about engineering, showing them how exciting it can be! When I was a university instructor, one of the hardest things to teach was innovation and creativity. One of the best ways to do this is by using the elements from Odyssey of the Mind activities from the late 1970s.
I am putting together a special packet packet that will contain several design challenges that use simple materials that your kids can do right away. Normally, kids are only given 10-20 minutes per activity, since the focus is also on teamwork and communication in addition to design and engineering, however you can do these activities as long as your kids are interested and excited about completing each challenge. Enjoy and have fun!
Week 22: Supercharged Science Fair!
Supercharged Science is holding a Science Fair and you are invited to participate! The point of doing a science fair project is to learn how to ask scientific questions, design experiments to get those questions answered, and stay curious and excited about the world we live in.
We'll go over all the details in class to help get you started with your science fair project, you have will have several weeks to complete your project to enter in our Science Fair. This week is just to help you get started (HINT: projects are not due yet!)
