Before Class: Have Section 1 Activity 1 ready to go.

In this class, we review Activity 1. We then learn more about batteries and how they behave when placed in series and parallel.

In this class, we learn more about polarity and way to protect electrical circuits. We then start a discussion on LEDS in series and parallel.

Homework: Build Activities 4 & 5

In this class, we build Activities 4 & 5 as we cover series and parallel LEDs. We then learn more about schematics and then move on to electromagnetism and Activity 6.

Homework: Build Activity 6 by following the schematic. Have this Activity build and ready for the next class.

In this class, we review Activity 6 and the red light / green light game. We then learn more about relays and coil flyback. This class also includes an introduction to passive and active electronics components as we move into resistors.

In this class we continue our discussion on resistors and learn how they behave in series and parallel circuits with Activates 8 and 9. We also learn about photocells and build Activity 10.

Homework over winter break: Build Activities 11 & 12 and practice drawing schematics from past Activities.

In this class, we learn more about capacitors and how they behave when placed in parallel and series. We build Activity 11 during class.

Homework: Build Activity 12 and have it ready for the start of the next class.

In this class, we discuss capacitors in series with Activity 12. We then transition to active components by covering diodes and voltage drop with Activities 13 and 14. We wrap up with a discussion on Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law.

In this class, we wrap up our discussion on diodes, learn more and LEDs and learn how to use Ohm’s law to determine the proper resistor values in LED circuits.

Homework:
Complete the Ohm’s Law and Power Law Exercises provided in the blue button above the videos.

In this class, we go through the Section 2 quiz together.
