Your body moves when muscles pull on the bones through ligaments and tendons. Ligaments attach the bones to other bones, and the tendons attach the bones to the muscles.

If you place your relaxed arm on a table, palm-side up, you can get the fingers to move by pushing on the tendons below your wrist. We’re going to make a real working model of your hand, complete with the tendons that move the fingers! Are you ready?

  1. Something springy and elastic will be a good substitute.

Can you use other rubber bands to substitute for these ones?

  3. We’re working to integrate the new lectures into the main part of the program, but until then if you find some are missing the lectures, simply go to LIVE CLASSES and click on BIOLOGY and find the topic you want to learn about first (Cells, Plants, Animals, etc) and then jump over to the experiments.

Are these just experiments or are there actual lessons? I am looking at life science in grade 5

  5. Once you select the grade level and subject you want to focus on, you can work your way through the experiment in any order, completing the first one at the top first.

If you would like them to go through this program in a consecutive way, where one topic builds on another, then select to go through by Topic, working your way from units 1 through 20.

Thank you! This is our first time using the lessons. The path I took was by 5h grade, then I chose life science. Is there a more logical path that I can teach my children to follow so they can navigate it independently?

  7. Are you going through the content by Grade Level, by Topic? IF it’s by Grade or Topic, there are downloads at the start of the section that you can download.

  8. Yes, in the main part of the lesson. This is Unit 19 so you can look at the reading material for this project there!

I’m preparing to complete this lesson with my children. Is there additional reading or another video lesson to further teach the topic?
